Letter to Mbulu
December 10, 2002
Pastor Samwel Sulle
Mbulu Congregation,
P.O. Box 51,
Mbulu,
Arusha, Tanzania
Dear Pastor Sulle:
Merry Christmas from the USA! It has been 2 months since we have
heard from you. Did you receive our letters dated Oct 1st &
November, 2002?
As you know, on November 17th we celebrated Mbulu
Fellowship Sunday. Jill McKinney & Lois Rimbo came to share their visits and
slides with our congregation. We had a really nice turnout. According to our
speakers, fish farming is not done in your area. Would you let us know what some
of the occupations are in your community?
Mbulu Fellowship Sunday was actually the culmination of a 2
month long fundraising project on your behalf. Do you remember the women artist
who designed the banner for our Sunday School Students to display their
handprints? A friend of hers who shares her hobby of boating, found a poem
on her boat entitled "Words From the Lord". Mrs. Snavely so loved it,
she decided to find the Author of the poem, and came up with a drawing to
superimpose the poem upon. She offered these for sale as a fundraiser for our
Sister Congregation in Mbulu. All the prints were sold! I am pleased to announce
that the proceeds from that sale, along with the money collected on Mbulu
Fellowship Sunday, as well as other specific gifts, totals approximately
$2,300.00 American dollars. That money should be wired to your congregation
through the Synod, shortly.
As our Christmas gift to your congregation, I enclose a copy of
this artwork. Please extend our wishes to your congregation, for a blessed
holiday, and a healthy and prosperous New Year.
Your in Christian Fellowship,
Linda S. Newton, Outreach
