These Things Matter: Part I: Proclaiming the Word
Have you ever wondered about why we do what we do in worship? Have you ever visited another church (even another Lutheran church?) And observed practices unfamiliar at POG? Have you ever wondered about the balance between local/congregational practices, and the larger tradition of the whole Church?
In this time of pastoral transition at POG, we have had an opportunity to observe different worship styles. For some, this diversity is refreshing. Others feel challenged by it. And all of us are, hopefully, interested in discussing what is important about: -- Proclaiming the Word -- Baptizing into Christ -- Celebrating the Sacrament of Holy Communion.
Join us for a new Adult Sunday School class at 10:00 am, April 6 through May 18, during which we will discuss how the Scriptures are proclaimed, and the Word of God set forth, in Lutheran worship. All are welcome and encouraged to attend, particularly if you wish to participate in discerning worship at POG.
SMALL CATECHISM CLASS IS COMING!
Pastor Bill will be teaching a class on Martin Luther's Small Catechism on Tuesday evenings in May. If you haven't blown the dust off your Small Catechism since Confirmation days, maybe it's time for a refresher! Please watch for specific dates and times in the May issue of the Ark.
Participants are encouraged to purchase a copy of A Contemporary Translation of Luther's Small Catechism: Study Edition (not the pocket edition) from Augsburg Fortress, by going to www.augsburgfortress.org and ordering item number 9780806600260. (or you can press the "education link" and type "contemporary small catechism study" in the search space).
