What is a Sunday Morning Van Driver ?
A Sunday Morning Van Driver is another very vital volunteer position here at POG. These angels provide transportation to the second Service for about 5-6 of our Senior Citizens who are unable to drive. You only need to make two stops at two locations that are conveniently located within a 5 mile radius of our Church.
You utilize the beautiful 15 seat Van that we purchased just a couple of years ago. You start your run about 45 minutes before the second service begins, and pick up one member just a couple miles west down 14 mile in Clawson, and then head back east up 14 Mile ( or 15 if you prefer!) 4 miles to The Oakland Towers which are located off John R. in Troy, between 14 & 15 Mile Rds. This schedule allows for the Seniors to get to POG at least 15 minutes before the second service begins.
We would like to have at least 12-14 volunteers who are willing to donate just one month of Sundays each year to provide this much appreciated service to our long term members. Over the last few years we have only had about 6-7 volunteers covering 12 months, but our goal is to provide many hands … to make lighter work... for all!
